LabTech MSP 2.0L Released
We are proud to announce the LabTech system has undergone a major improvement in scripting and alerting. The LabTech Script Engine has been completely rewritten and is capable of running hundreds of scripts at a time with priorities and full administrative control. The LabTech Alerting System for internal monitors has undergone a major change as well to allow for easier event log monitoring and better email control. Internal monitors can now be run at much higher frequencies than ever before, resulting in immediate alerting on selected events. To prevent multiple and overlapping alerts, emails generated by these alerts are combined together as one. Patch Management has undergone a series of improvements to allow finer control of hot-fix installations and removal. Patches can now be approved or removed on computer and group levels. Our hot-fix scan engine uses the Microsoft® Baseline Scanner™ to obtain a complete list of applicable patches for windows and other Microsoft® products. The LabTech Patch Management System is self updating so you do not need rely on anything else for an accurate list of patches. We’ve also updated the LabTech Reporting Engine to use the latest Crystal Reports 11™ for better out-of-the-box Vista™ compatibility and improved features. As always, performance improvements abound resulting in improved scalability. For example, we’ve tested running 5000 agents on a single 1 GHz machine running 1 GB mem and 1 IDE Disk with acceptable results. Note: this setup is not advisable to use in any production system!

Another new feature is our Startup Wizard. This wizard will guide you through the setup tasks of a new server install. It will also provide you with short-cuts to some of the most basic features of the system so you can get right in and start. Many of the configuration options have wizards that will guide you through setting up the Redirector, Mail Server or Quick Connect and perform testing for you too. Also added is a ticket wizard which will quickly create new tickets and contacts. This wizard can be called from the LabTech URL and passed a phone number where it will look up the computer and contact.

The Remote Agent has been modified so it will work in any country. We’ve also improved our compatibility with broken systems by getting some data by alternate methods. LabTech Agents now report UPS and battery data and the status of the agent including probe scan position. Scheduled Tasks on remote computers may now be controlled and are viewable in the control center.
